Hyperhidrosis – Excess SweatingFor some people, sweating can be excessive and this is also known as Severe Primary Axillary Hyperhidrosis (SPAH). SPAH is a condition where the body sweats more than it needs to in order to regulate the body temperature. For many patients who have SPAH, they feel very self-conscience and it may interfere with their daily activities. Treatment with BOTOX® is for individuals where topical medicines did not work well to control their excessive sweating. PROCEDUREYou will be asked to refrain from NSAID use for one week prior to the procedure, and to come to your appointment with clean armpits, that are shaved and free of deodorant or other products. A special test called the Minor’s Iodine-Starch Test will be performed to determine the treatment area. BOTOX® is then injected into the marked treatment area. You should not plan any rigorous activity for 24 hours after the procedure. |
